Why I chose UW Immunology

I am an pediatric infectious diseases physician interested in viral infection of the brain. I joined the immunology department because of the excellent resources and knowledge in the department about the innate immune mechanisms of viral control.

Activities and Interests

Activities near, on or in water– whether liquid or solid.

Advice from me

Follow your gut– Seattle is a beautiful place to live and a great place to train. It isn’t quite a big city like New York and it’s not quite a mountain town like Aspen, but it has features of both and great access to the outdoors. The department is friendly, and the scientific community is unbeatable.

More about me

I study the innate immune mechanisms of viral control of Zika virus in the brain. My specific project is investigating the factors that make neural progenitor cells uniquely susceptible to Zika infection.
