Congratulations, Sheenam Verma, Washington Research Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow!

Sheenam is a postdoctoral scholar in the Harrison lab at Benaroya Research Institute. She earned her PhD in Structural Biology from the Regional Centre for Biotechnology in India in 2020. She was recently awarded a postdoctoral fellowship from the Washington Research Foundation. With support from the fellowship, Sheenam will explore how immunity to gut microbiota is altered in patients with autoimmune disorders. She focuses on identifying microbial antigens targeted by the immune system in patients with Type 1 diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis, in the hopes of identifying novel biomarker candidates for diagnosis of autoimmune disorders.
