How ADAR1 mutation leads to self-destructive inflammation

From UW Medicine Newsroom: A new study shows how mutation of the ADAR1 gene sets off biochemical pathways that produce an autoimmune response that harms the developing brain and other areas of the body.

The findings of the research, conducted in mouse models, appear July 28 in the print edition of Nature; the paper was published online on July 20, 2022. The study took place in the University of Washington School of Medicine immunology labs of Andrew Oberst, Dan Stetson and Ram Savan. It was led by Nicholas W. Hubbard, Joshua M. Ames and Megan Maurano.
